ARHEN is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of people in rural and remote communities and supporting the rural health workforce.
We focus our advocacy on national policies and programs that shape the design and delivery of rural and remote health education, research and workforce development, as well as rural and remote health and human services.

ARHEN is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of people in rural and remote communities and supporting the rural health workforce.
We focus our advocacy on national policies and programs that shape the design and delivery of rural and remote health education, research and workforce development, as well as rural and remote health and disability services.
Recent policy submissions and consultations include:
- Comment to inform the development of the Medical Research Future Fund Strategy and Priorities
- Feedback to inform the development of the National Mental Health Workforce Strategy 2021-2031
- Feedback to shape the design of the Australian Government’s Regional Data Hub
- Comment on the draft recommendations for Australian Government’s ten-year Primary Health Care Plan.
- Comment on the Australian Government’s draft National Preventative Health Strategy
- A submission and evidence to the Australian Parliament House Select Committee Inquiry into Mental Health and Suicide Prevention
- Multiple submissions and workshops to inform the Evaluation of the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training Program and implementation of the evaluation recommendations.
ARHEN works closely with other peak bodies in the rural health sector to develop and influence Australian Government policies that affect the rural health sector as a whole.
ARHEN is a member of the National Rural Health Alliance and regularly collaborates with the Federation of Medical Educators Australia and other peak bodies to promote and achieve common objectives.
